Poliça announce Valentine's Day release show at First Ave

Earlier this week, when Poliça announced that their fans would have to wait another three months to get their hands on their full-length record despite the fact that it's been finished since August, I couldn't help but wonder how they were planning to sustain the incredible momentum that they've built up this fall all the way until their February 14 release date.

But here we are, just a few days later, and it looks like they've got it covered.

After playing three opening-slot shows in quick succession this month (two of which are already sold out), Poliça will start preparing for their first show in First Avenue's Mainroom on Valentine's Day, a gig that will coincide with the release of their debut Give You the Ghost. The band has been following an incredible hit-the-ground-running trajectory since forming this summer; in addition to successful mini-tours on the East and West Coasts supporting Clap Your Hands Say Yeah and Centro-Matic, they were our second-place finalists in this year's Picked to Click poll.

And though fans will have to cool their heels a while before getting their paws on Give You the Ghost, the band is offering up an added incentive for ticket buyers: Snag your tickets online anytime between noon on Saturday and the end of the day Monday and you'll receive a free, exclusive download of their song "Wandering Star."
