Solid Gold don Let It Be attire, head into the graveyard for Beatle Project video

The Pioneers & Soldiers Cemetery in Phillips has been getting a lot of play these days. Not only was it the inspiration for the theme of Jeremy Messersmith's last album, The Reluctant Graveyard, but it was also the site of a unique outdoor show Messersmith played this summer with Lucy Michelle and the Velvet Lapelles. Today, the graveyard is getting some love again in the newest video from Solid Gold, which was recorded as part of Dan Huiting and MPLS.TV's City of Music series to help promote their track on the Minnesota Beatle Project, Vol. 3 compilation.

The timing of the video has a nice bit of symmetry, as this week not only marks the release of the newest Minnesota Beatle Project album (they will celebrate the disc on Thursday night during Curtiss A's annual John Lennon tribute show at First Avenue), but this weekend will also see Solid Gold taking over the Turf Club for a two-night stand. Friday night's gig will feature increasingly buzzy new powerhouse act Polica, while Saturday's show will feature a rare appearance by Milwaukee experimentalists Collections of Colonies of Bees.

The video showcases the band's fuzzy, layered take on the George Harrison-penned "Love You To," which is one of the first recorded tracks to capture Solid Gold's heavier, headier new sound. Oh, and did we mention that they dressed up like Let It Be-era Beatles for their graveyard shoot, complete with Movember-approved moustaches?
