A fond farewell, and changes ahead for Gimme Noise

​Today marks my last day at the helm of this blog, and the end of a journey that I began with City Pages nearly four years ago. Naturally, I have quite a few thoughts about closing this chapter, and you can read all about the history of Gimme Noise and my thoughts on the past four years in this farewell column, which is also running in print today.

It was difficult summarizing my experience here in a mere 800 words, and that ongoing challenge to fit expanding ideas into a shrinking space was part of the impetus for the Gimme Noise blog and the reason it's experienced such a natural growth over the past few years. I'm looking forward to taking on a new role with Gimme Noise, this time as an avid reader, and have a feeling that the blog will continue to prosper in coming years.

Over the next few weeks you'll be hearing a lot from frequent Gimme Noise contributor Erik Thompson, who has graciously agreed to step in and run the blog until the arrival of your new music editor, Reed Fischer, on January 18.
