Today marks my last day at the helm of this blog, and the end of a journey that I began with City Pages nearly four years ago. Naturally, I have quite a few thoughts about closing this chapter, and you can read all about the history of Gimme Noise and my thoughts on the past four years in this farewell column
, which is also running in print today.
It was difficult summarizing my experience here in a mere 800 words, and that ongoing challenge to fit expanding ideas into a shrinking space was part of the impetus for the Gimme Noise blog and the reason it's experienced such a natural growth over the past few years. I'm looking forward to taking on a new role with Gimme Noise, this time as an avid reader, and have a feeling that the blog will continue to prosper in coming years.
Over the next few weeks you'll be hearing a lot from frequent Gimme Noise contributor Erik Thompson, who has graciously agreed to step in and run the blog until the arrival of your new music editor, Reed Fischer
, on January 18.
In the interim, you can keep up with all of the Gimme Noise happenings via our @gimme_noise
Twitter feed and Facebook page
, and get to know Reed by following him on Twitter at @reedfischer
As for me, I'll be returning to my personal Twitter feed, @SlingshotAnnie
, as well as reporting on Twin Cities music for my new employer, 89.3 The Current, which you can follow at @LocalCurrent
Thanks for reading, and see you out at the clubs.
