Howler's debut LP, 'America Give Up,' streaming at NPR

​Lost in the flurry of hype and accolades surrounding Howler, it's quite easy to forget that the young Minneapolis quintet has yet to even release a full-length record. That all changes next Tuesday, as the recent City Pages Year In Music cover stars release their debut record, America Give Up. In addition to what is sure to be a raucous show this Saturday night at the Triple Rock to celebrate the album, America Give Up is also being streamed in its entirety over at NPR all this week leading up to its release on the 17th.

The crisp and catchy 11-track record, wh clocks in at just over 32-minutes, builds on the guitar-laden hooks that permeated their debut EP, This One's Different,' and is packed with a restless, youthful spirit which is bound to win over any music fan. Fresh off of being featured in the NME as being one of their Top 100 New Bands of 2012, the exposure surrounding the band will surely only grow after the release of this gritty, infectious new collection of songs.

And while the furor over Howler is substantially more pronounced across the pond (especially after they signed to the venerable Rough Trade Records), its more of a slowly simmering level of support here in the Twin Cities for the band, as evidenced by the fact that there are still tickets remaining for their upcoming Triple Rock gig. But this strong, spirited new record should silence any critics of the group, and win them over plenty of new fans in the process. You can hear America Give Up in its entirety here.
