Low and Death Cab for Cutie team for tour

Low_Cmon_press.jpg
Lovers of Death Cab for Cutie will get rewarded for showing up early starting in April when Low, our not-so-slow-core-no-more neighbors from Duluth, joins them for a spate of shows. This pairing is a huge coup for Low, who have steadily grasped more rock conventions in their work while ne'r neglecting the gorgeous harmonies of Alan Sparhawk and Mimi Parker that got them noticed in the first place. This'll be in support of C'mon, the band's third Sub Pop album (and ninth overall), which was released last April.

Having experienced a Death Cab for Cutie show recently, Low fans who go to these concerts should expect a lot of attendees who could've been conceived to the dulcet tones of Long Division in 1995. Could be a bit of a mismatch, but probably less so than at any point in the past. The more experimentally minded DCFC's efforts on Codes and Keys, and this Robert Plant-approved segment of Low's career -- which has yielded several charming music videos -- could mesh better onstage than the divergent crowds coming out to support.

Here's one of the cornerstones of C'mon, "Witches." Within, Sparhawk chillingly reminds, "All you guys out there tryin' to act like Al Green, you're all weak."

Here are Low's 2012 dates, which include a showing at Friday's 7th Birthday show for the Current at First Avenue, and a bunch more European shows sans the Cutie connection.
