331 Club announces massive Art-A-Whirl music lineup

​Each year, the Northeast Minneapolis Arts Association puts on one of the largest (and best) open studio tours in America during the annual Art-A-Whirl. Local art galleries and studios in Northeast Minneapolis are opened up to the public, which allows patrons and interested parties to connect with the artists and their work in a very unique and intimate way.

But, as anyone who has been involved in the event can attest to, music has always played a major role in the continued success of Art-A-Whirl. And this year shouldn't be any different, as the 331 Club has just announced a stellar music showcase over May 18-20 featuring a superb collection of local talent, with Zoo Animal, the Goondas, No Bird Sing, and BNLX amongst the 20+ bands scheduled to play over the three days of Art-A-Whirl.

There will be music both inside and outside the 331 Club over the free and sure to be festive three-day event, which consistently brings much needed attention to the distinct artistic community that forms the heart of Northeast Minneapolis. The objective of NEMAA is to "build a more vibrant, diverse and economically healthy community through the arts." And the divergent groups set to play the 331 Club during Art-A-Whirl certainly attests to that worthwhile mission.

It's a fantastic collection of talented local bands who are sure to keep fans of both art and music highly entertained all weekend long. And, with no cover-charge for any of the performances, the 331 Club is clearly one of the places to be during Art-A-Whirl, an event which always helps usher in the summer months in Minneapolis, as well as shine a well-deserved spotlight on the creative individuals who help keep Northeast original and inspired.
