Wiping Out Thousands drop new video for "Mass Nerve"

Local electroclash duo Wiping Out Thousands have been creating quite a stir within the Twin Cities music scene as of late. In addition to blowing everyone away with their recent opening set for Yacht at the Entry (where they essentially stole the show from the headliners), they have also generated quite a bit of buzz with their stellar EP, Reaction Machine, as well as their new single "Mass Nerve."

The group has just released a ghostly, distorted video for "Mass Nerve," which puts most of the focus directly on the faces of Alaine Dickman and Taylor Nelson (as well as some bleak roadside scenery) over the course of its fitful, funky four minutes.

If Nelson looks a bit familiar to local music fans, it's because he is also in the New Monarchs, who are set to release their second LP in the very near future. And while Nelson's new band certainly contains plenty of the churning electronic elements that makes the New Monarchs so striking, Wiping Out Thousands' sound is far more ethereal and dreamlike, with a slightly sinister edge lurking just below the uneasy surface.

If you're interested in checking out more of Wiping Out Thousands transfixing music, Reaction Machine and "Mass Nerve" are both available for free download on their bandcamp page. In addition, the group also have a Live In-studio at Radio K scheduled on March 23, as well as a gig with Aaron & The Sea at Hell's Kitchen on March 24, and a free show with Tru Peyote at Macalester College on March 31.

Catch this band soon if you can, for they are clearly making some interesting waves in the local music scene.
