This year is no exception, as the 26 shows just announced for the 20th season of Music In the Zoo should satisfy area concert-goers no matter what genres you are typically drawn to. Some of the bigger modern acts heading to the Zoo this summer are Feist (with Low Anthem opening) on June 2, DeVotchKa on July 6, and Rufus Wainwright on August 11. But ticket prices for these shows tend to be on the expensive side, so there is clearly a higher price to pay for the picturesque outdoor setting.
There are plenty of classic, older acts coming to the Zoo as well, with Jimmy Cliff on June 16, Emmylou Harris on June 28, Los Lobos and Steve Earle on July 25, and Tower Of Power on August 15 being a few of the highlights. And there are always some interesting pairings threaded throughout the Zoo's eclectic schedule, and this year is no different, as Gavin DeGraw and Colbie Caillat share the bill on June 27, Los Lonely Boys and Ozomatli on July 22, and what should be a lively triple-bill featuring Barenaked Ladies, Blues Traveler, and Cracker on August 7.
Ticket for all the performances go on-sale on April 30, and more complete information for the shows can be found here, but be warned that these concerts have grown more costly over the last few years. While the scenic outdoor environment typically adds a distinct charm and inviting atmosphere to every performance at the Zoo (at least when it doesn't rain), some of these ticket prices are rather exorbitant.
