Tapes 'n Tapes, Kimya Dawson, Greg Brown top Winona's Mid West Music Fest lineup
The Mid West Music Fest in Winona will allow area music fans the opportunity to get out of town to see plenty of Twin Cities bands in a different (but still Minnesotan) setting. The third annual MWMF is set to take place over April 19-21, with over 120 different bands scheduled to play at 17 different venues spread throughout the scenic backdrop of Winona.
Tapes 'n Tapes, Caroline Smith and the Good Night Sleeps, the 4onthefloor, BNLX, Zoo Animal, Toki Wright, and Rogue Valley are just a few of the talented Twin Cities artists scheduled to play the festival, which also will feature performances by Greg Brown, Kimya Dawson, and two sets by Minnesota bluesman Charlie Parr.
In addition to the festivals stated goal of "Making Winona Music Friendly," proceeds from the event will benefit local children and arts organization throughout the community. In addition to the stellar music on offer, there will also be a Musicians Summit held on the campus of Winona State where Chris Koza will be giving a presentation, a large Earth Day celebration on Saturday in Unity Park, a Disc Golf tournament, a pop-up record shop at Dib's Cafe which will help celebrate National Record Store Day, a comedy show, and more.
It's bound to be three eventful, enjoyable days in Winona celebrating the unifying nature of music and community.
Three-day passes for MWMF are on-sale now, and are going for the extremely reasonable rate of $35. Single day passes for each day of the fest cost $20 individually. Tickets for Greg Brown's show are being sold separately through the Winona State University ticketing outlets, and those cost an additional $26.
