In addition to it being TBT Day, the stretch Interstate 35W running from Duluth to Minneapolis has been renamed Trampled By Turtles Trail for the duration of their current tour. These are some kind gestures to the Duluth quintet, but honors that are clearly well deserved, as the band's profile continues to grow right along with their passionate fan base.
TBT even had a special intimate performance at the 7th St. Entry last night for fans who purchased their new record at the Electric Fetus, which will clearly be the smallest local show for the band in quite a while. Their current tour, with These United States for most of the dates, finds the group hitting a majority of the U.S. and Canada, along with a couple of high profile festival slots (in addition to Lolla) at Sasquatch, Bonnaroo, and the Newport Folk Festival.
But for today and tonight at least, the band is clearly going to bask in the love and adoration consistently shown to them by their home state. And, based on the way Trampled By Turtle's career is taking off, that devotion isn't going to change anytime soon. So, TBT fans, celebrate Trampled By Turtles Day before, during, and after their big show tonight at First Avenue, for the band are clearly hitting all the right chords in Minnesota and beyond.
