Wilco frontman Jeff Tweedy has no interest in falling into predictable patterns. Watch him smoke a cigarette out of his bellybutton in I Am Trying to Break Your Heart, the 2002 documentary about the band, if you don't believe. This carries over into his band's touring itinerary for the coming summer, as well.

Wilco has a pair of shows coming up in the Land of 10,000 Lakes, and they're serving the metro areas outside of the Twin Cities. In early July, residents of Rochester and Duluth will play host to the unpredictable Tweedy and band.

That said, it looks like Wilco could have their eyes on the Twin Cities for something big right around July 4 -- or possibly July 6, if the Basilica Block Party decided to entice the Chicago alt-country stars for a massive outdoor showing. We'll find that out for sure when the lineup is announced on April 20. Given that Wilco has a window of open dates on July 3-6 and their next show is in Sioux City, Iowa, there's quite the possibility that something's brewing. Either that, or they'll head back to the Windy City for the holiday.

Update: Or not. According to Wilco's press rep, "Please note that those are indeed Wilco's only two MN concerts this summer; the band will definitely not be performing at the Basilica Block Party (or any other concerts this summer in the Twin Cities.)"

Regardless, the July 1 gig at Duluth's Bayfront Festival Park, and the July 2 stop at Mayo Civic Center Auditorium in Rochester, should be broiling tickets in the months to come.

Pre-sale for both shows launches Wednesday at 10 a.m. General sales for the Duluth show follow on Friday at 10 a.m. and Saturday at 10 a.m. signals the opening for Rochester general sales. Blitzen Trapper will open on both dates.

they just announced another Iowa show in Davenport on 7/3... so they're definitely hovering around the area that week. would not be surprised if they played Basilica on the 6th as Reed suggested

Could also see them playing the 80/35 Festival in Des Moines on 7/6.

I'm sure the hipsters are on the edge of their seats for an announcement. And by 'seats' I mean the curb of Lyndale Ave.

We got an update on the story. They are not playing any other dates in MN this year.

I think by hipsters you mean "late 30s fathers reminiscing about the summer of 1994" and by the curb of Lyndale Ave you mean "the front seat of their minivans in the parking lot of Pizza Luce on Lyndale Ave."  So let's all be friends and watch the newest Volkswagon commercial together, okay?

Zing! Good one Mike.  I too think it is funny that so many young people live around the Lyndale Ave. neighborhood!  its like "what!? lol... are you totally joking?"  And like, totes how weird is it that young people who like to ride bikes and dress silly listen to WILCO!?  They are such a hot name right now!!!  Im only 22 and I listen to them with my dad (who does not wear skinny jeans... ick I know) in his van on the way to best buy sometimes.

Anyway, I thought your comment was original and fresh and totally #SWAG, and there should be more attention brought to people that are just doing what they want and not caring about Big Ol Intimidated low self esteem fatties like yourself!
