Chooglin' is breaking up, Midnight Evils to play reunion
| Dan Corrigan |
The band declined to play an official farewell show, but their high energy, horn-fueled rock will be missed.
The band, formed in 2005, released two full-lengths and a live record, and completed three European tours (including a prominent performance at Bergenfest in Norway). The name Chooglin' is a reference to a CCR lyric.
In related news, Chooglin' precursors and Estrus Records alumni Midnight Evils have announced a reunion gig prior to Tomlinson's move. The Evils, who share members Tomlinson and guitarist Brian Vanderwerf with Chooglin', played from 1999-2005 and recorded three records in that time, twice being selected as "Best Rock Band" in City Pages' annual "Best Of" issue.
Here's a taste of what to expect:
They will play a sweaty 7th Street Entry on Saturday June 23.
