Billing itself as the largest one-day festival in the Midwest, St. Paul's Grand Old Day is once again set to put plenty of smiles on the faces of Twin Cities music fans this summer, as 16 local bands will perform on six separate stages on Sunday, June 3 from noon until 5 p.m.

This year also features the debut of a Nathan's Famous Hot Dog Eating Contest, which will take place on Dixie's Stage. The top male and female competitors from Grand Old Day will earn a trip to compete in the finals on July 4th in Coney Island at the original Nathan's Famous location. In addition to the music and competitive eating, there will also be a Family Fun District which will feature music performances and activities geared towards keeping the kids happy.

After the festivities surrounding the Hot Dog Eating Contest die down, Dixie's has a stellar music  lineup planned, with Charlie Parr, the Blind Shake, the Soviettes, and Solid Gold all set to make the afternoon a memorable one. A wristband will be required for admittance to any of the festival garden performance areas, and all festival garden guests must be 21 and up.

Wristband vouchers are available for pre-sale for $6 at all 17 Frattallone's Ace Hardware locations throughout the Twin Cities. Wristbands will also be available for purchase on the day of the festival for $8 at various wristband booths around Grand Avenue. One wristband will allow guests into all six live music locations.

McNally Smith College of Music will also have their own stage at Grand Old Day, where they will be hosting a Teen Battle of the Bands contest. Six bands will be performing on stage for judges, and one of those groups will be crowned the 2012 Teen Battle of the Bands winner.

In the Family Fun District, there will be performances from Koo Koo Kangaroo, Radio Disney, Snapdragon Seeds, and Paul Smith at the Whole Foods stage, and well as plenty of other kids-based fun and activities planned for the whole family.

Here is a full list of performers scheduled for Grand Old Day 2012 and the stages they will be performing at. For a complete schedule and further information about Grand Old Day, visit www.grandave.com/grand-old-day.

Yeah no it still blows. Hooker and Blows. Remember when it was free and they had Rev. Horton Heat? Yeah what the fuck do I know...

Solid Gold. Charlie Parr. Soviettes. Each is better than Reverend H. Heat in my opinion, and well worth the $10 or whatever. Again, just my opinion. I am right, though.
