This year's lineup is an eclectic mix of dynamic singers and songwriters, full-scale orchestras, spirited Latin dance music, and great local hip-hop.
The free events take place throughout the University of Minnesota's summer session (between June 8 and August 1), and have varying start times between noon and night. They all take place on Northrop Plaza, with the picturesque, stately U of M Mall as the backdrop. These events are a great way of forging a deep connection between the students and the Twin Cities music scene, and many of the concerts will feature performances by U of M bands and musicians.
Free food giveaways from various local vendors will also entice students and local music fans alike to make it out to these terrific events, which are always entertaining, engaging affairs. For updated information on the Summer Music Festival at Northrup, you should check the festival's website.
