He may share his famous great-uncle's last name, but where legend Ernest Tubb was all adorably hokey honky-tonk, Lucky Tubb's style is situated closer to the outlaw snarl of Hank III. The two not only share a similar family lineage -- both carry on their family traditions just as well as they stray from them -- but have also collaborated with one another.

Tonight, Lucky Tubb and the Modern Day Troubadours play Lee's Liquor Lounge, with Chris Brooks and the Silver City Boys opening (9 p.m., $12).

Lucky Tubb recorded his album Generations in January 2003, after a devastating Christmas Eve fire destroyed all his belongings. He's since reestablished himself, building up from his beginnings playing coffee shops for tips (and drinking too much of the stuff they don't sell in those coffee shops), to opening for the likes of Ray Price, Dwight Yoakam and of course, Hank III.

After a quick swing through the Midwest, Lucky will be heading to Europe in June to play a handful of dates including the Cowboy Up and Muddy Roots Music Festival in Belgium.
