Later this month, of course, MaLLy will be one of the hosts for Rhymesayers' annual hip hop mecca, Soundset, where he had a breakout performance last year. But already there's plenty to chew on for his fans: His new album, The Last Great..., is available for download as of yesterday, and now you can read about it in our interview with the south side MC, which hits newsstands in today's City Pages.
MaLLy will be playing a release show this Friday at the 7th St. Entry for The Last Great..., but it's available today online and at the Fifth Element. You can cop the free download here, but of course if you like it, it's always encouraged to drop the cash and help support a local artist.
As for our interview, MaLLy -- widely considered one of the most promising up-and-coming rappers in the Twin Cities -- opened up about his past, his vision for his music, and his goals as an artist and role model. "Being an artist has really helped me be able to express things," he told us. "But for me it's much bigger than a song; it's me telling you at this particular time who I am as a person."
