Communist Daughter readies new EP, release "Speed Of Sound" video

In addition to the new batch of tunes, the group has also just shot a video for a new mix of "Speed Of Sound," a different version of the track that was featured on the band's stellar debut, Soundtrack To The End.
There is definitely a tranquil, small-town vibe to the video, which was directed by Mike Minehart. The vid features Solomon and fellow bandmate Molly Moore walking through some serene settings, mixed with shots of the band playing in a spare, unadorned shed or barn. The video perfectly suits the sedate nature of the track itself, and only adds to the wistful, searching theme of the rather somber but hopeful number.

The updated mix of "Speed Of Sound" was done by Brad Kern, and the new version will be one of the tracks featured on Lions & Lambs.
Communist Daughter have a few local shows scheduled leading up to the release of the new EP, including a free show in Mears Park this Thursday, and a coveted opening slot for Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit at First Avenue on July 6.
With a strong new batch of songs to support, as well as a new lease on
life for Solomon himself, Communist Daughter will probably be playing quite
frequently around the Twin Cities throughout the rest of 2012, a year
that hopefully has big things in store for a band who has certainly earned their
time in the spotlight.
