Vincent Kartheiser of 'Mad Men' loves The Current, hates your blog

Any Mad Men fans who did not know that Vincent "Pete Campbell" Kartheiser was a local product, you're forgiven. Gimme Noise was initially thrown off too -- because his on-screen character displays so little of our "Minnesota Nice."

This week's cover story, penned by Andy Mannix, features an intimate conversation with Kartheiser, a self-proclaimed Minnesota boy and 89.3 FM the Current listener. And its contents attempt to separate how much of his TV persona trickles into his true self.

Love him, or hate him -- or really hate him -- the Pete Campbell figure is an essential part of the show. Even if a good portion of the time we might like to see him topple off a ledge after saying something like "Are you Amish or something?" As a result, the tireless YouTube montage creators have done a number on Kartheiser, and set his acting and visage to any number of songs -- cloying  Hanson, Avril Lavigne, and Incubus material, and then some stuff that we actually like. Here are five of the best Pete Campbell videos set to music.

5. The Charleston set to Ludacris' "Money Maker"
This clip below is actually a mostly unadulterated moment from the show, and actually paints Pete Campbell's character in a more sympathetic light. Here, we see Kartheiser and his TV wife Trudy (Alison Brie) doing an impressive run-through of the Charleston from the episode "My Old Kentucky Home." Arguably Roger Sterling is the dunce of that episode for appearing in blackface, anyhow. Set to Ludacris' "Money Maker," we see the pair get down to a beat that wouldn't get invented for years to come.

4. Old-school montage set to James' "Sit Down"
Here's Campbell brandishing a rifle, wearing pajamas, and causing those sexually potent moments with Peggy Olson, here's a clip that is what YouTube was built upon (even if, again, the whole embedding things is hampered). All set to a jaunty Brit rock song!

3. Very old-school photo montage set to Modest Mouse's "Trailer Trash"
We're getting the feeling that AMC is pretty proprietary about the footage from Mad Men on the web. But when it comes to randomly grabbed images spanning Vincent Kartheiser's acting career from Little Big League to Angel and beyond, have at your embed code! Plus, here's something set to a song that the Current has probably played at some point.

2. Stylish pairing of fire and John Lennon songwriting
Billy J. Kramer & the Dakotas will never be a household name the way the Beatles are, but interweaving "Bad to Me" (penned by Lennon for Kramer in the early '60s) and this spooky image of Kartheiser setting the floor on fire is straight out of David Lynch's playbook.

1. Lane Pryce punching out Pete Campbell on repeat
With Imogen Heap's "Hide and Seek" soaring in the background, this is the moment we've all been waiting for without ever knowing it.
