SoundTown 2012 statement: The ticket threshold wasn't met
The 2012 running of the SouthTown Music & Camping Festival got canceled today, and organizers are pointing to the simple fact that not enough ticket sales were made to cover costs. Sad news for area music fans and all of the adorable animals in the publicity materials.
A statement issued by Somerset Amphitheater says that ticket buyers can expect a full refund. Read the full details below.
SOUNDTOWN MUSIC AND CAMPING FESTIVAL CANCELLED FOR JULY 27-28
SOMERSET, Wis. (July 11, 2012)
The Somerset Amphitheater is announcing that the SoundTown Music and Camping Festival scheduled for July 27-28, has been cancelled by its promoters (Jam Productions and Somerstar Entertainment). Ticket buyers will be issued a full refund for their concert tickets, camping and service fees. Promoters cite a purely financial decision claiming that tickets didn't reach the required threshold for feasibility.
"We would have loved to have SoundTown return to the Somerset Amphitheater this year, but unfortunately the ticket threshold wasn't met for a festival of that magnitude," Somerset Amphitheater General Manager Matt Mithun said.
Approximately 50 artists were scheduled to entertain festival guests on three stages, including top national acts and local bands from the Twin Cities and Wisconsin. "I hope that fans will check out other options for music at the amphitheater this summer. Our summer calendar has some great shows and events including the Border Battle Beer Fest on July 13-14; My Morning Jacket, Band of Horses and Trampled by Turtles on August 10; Knotfest featuring Slipknot and Deftones on August 18; and Summer Set Music and Camping Festival on August 24-26."
