Weekend Checklist: Owl City, Hot Chip, Dirty Projectors, Kid Rock

weekendChecklist_560.jpg

The prodigal son Owl City will perform a sold-out show at the Varsity Theater on Friday evening, but if you are older than 14, Hot Chip will rock the First Avenue stage in Downtown Minneapolis. MaLLy will perform a free show at Northrop Plaza, but make sure you show up in time to catch the infectious Culture Cry Wolf. We are halfway through summer, meaning shows at the MN Zoo will soon taper off; the talented Marc Cohn will play two evenings at the zoo--Saturday with local Alison Scott. Kid Rock's show at Mystic Lake is sold out, but there's still plenty of music to be heard with Dirty Projectors with Purity Ring, Youth Lagoon with Father John Misty, and Astronautalis and Peter Wolf Crier at the Bastille Day Celebration--all in Minneapolis.
