Weekend Checklist: Soul Asylum, Beirut, Lyle Lovett, Jeremy Messersmith
![]() |
The weekend may be time for rest or time for live music. This Friday Soul Asylum will be releasing their long awaited, aptly titled album Delayed Reaction at First Ave. The Global Dance Festival will have started before the weekend, but catch the last night at The Brick, also on Friday evening. Outdoor music will be brought to you on Saturday by Rogue Valley and Dan Israel at the Minneapolis Aquatennial followed by fireworks. If you want a little more outdoor rock, check out The Bearded Lady Motorcycle Freak Show at the 331 Club. Perhaps you want a more family friendly event, in that case Lyle Lovett will be performing at the MN Zoo, while Jeremy Messersmith will be playing some new material at First Ave. Local CD releases come from King Furi, Kids Like Us, and Urges From Elsewhere.
