53 things you might not know about Prince
Taking this one with a grain of salt, but there's reportedly a chance that Prince will perform an outdoor concert in downtown St. Paul next month.
At this point, MPR News cites "people with direct knowledge of the situation" who claim that the Minnesota-bred R&B-funk superstar Prince is discussing "dates, locations, permits and security" with the city of St. Paul.
When might this show happen? September 15 is the date given in MPR's report. For now, the city of St. Paul wisely isn't confirming or denying that they've had conversations about the concert.
Not for nothing, but Gimme Noise has heard reports recently from "other people familiar with other situations" that have put Prince performing upcoming shows in Loring Park, and also the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum. And remember how he was possibly going to jump onstage with the Revolution when they had their reunion earlier this year?
This is not to say that Gimme Noise wouldn't be highly in favor of a show in downtown St. Paul. Bring it! The show would coincide nicely with the 20th anniversary of the fall of 1992 release of Prince's "love symbol" album. You can bet that there will be plenty of fanfare in St. Paul when the Light Rail is finished too, so even if this particular concert isn't in the cards, fingers crossed.
As we hear more about this potential concert, we'll update you.
