53 things you might not know about Prince

Taking this one with a grain of salt, but there's reportedly a chance that Prince will perform an outdoor concert in downtown St. Paul next month.

At this point, MPR News cites "people with direct knowledge of the situation" who claim that the Minnesota-bred R&B-funk superstar Prince is discussing "dates, locations, permits and security" with the city of St. Paul.

When might this show happen? September 15 is the date given in MPR's report. For now, the city of St. Paul wisely isn't confirming or denying that they've had conversations about the concert.

Not for nothing, but Gimme Noise has heard reports recently from "other people familiar with other situations" that have put Prince performing upcoming shows in Loring Park, and also the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum. And remember how he was possibly going to jump onstage with the Revolution when they had their reunion earlier this year?

This is not to say that Gimme Noise wouldn't be highly in favor of a show in downtown St. Paul. Bring it! The show would coincide nicely with the 20th anniversary of the fall of 1992 release of Prince's "love symbol" album. You can bet that there will be plenty of fanfare in St. Paul when the Light Rail is finished too, so even if this particular concert isn't in the cards, fingers crossed.

As we hear more about this potential concert, we'll update you.

Prince is a goddamn bitch. Unless the city of St. Paul can guarantee him a bazillion dollars to do it, he'll pussy out at the last minute, not get on stage, and disappoint his fans once again. Prince does not give a single, solitary fuck about his fans.

@keny1 And what have you done in your life to be so confident judging Prince ? Tons of persons go to Prince's concert, (remember Superbowl 2007), but no ones cares about you keny1.

Daniel, I'm not judging him by who's having hits and who's not. There hasn't been a decent hit on radio since, I don't know, Green Day put out "American Idiot," and that was quite the anomaly. I am, however, comparing him against his old output of hits i.e. his successful days. I do NOT listen to current "hit" radio, certainly not in MN anyway.

Jeff, I'm not a Prince fan, but you can't judge music any more by who has a hit. Listen to the junk on the radio and tell me that's good.

Nope, can't stand him and in case no one's noticed, he hasn't had a hit in 25 years(?).

that would be great but I've been a fan long enough to know I shouldn't get my hopes UP!

I will be on my honeymoon then.....an outdoor Prince concert would be the only thing worth cutting the honeymoon short for! This is the stuff dreams are made of!
