The beauty of Upstate New York gets paired with forks jabbed into the innards of a grand piano for celebrated local jazz trio the Bad Plus' latest studio effort, Made Possible. And it's all on display in a new mini documentary that details the group's Golden Valley roots, and the process behind this experimental new brew of songs, due out September 25.

"We're kind of Midwestern -- we're not kind of Midwestern, we're very Midwestern," drummer Dave King says at one point. "These kinds of landscapes feed the music on some guttural level."

Not only are the fellas in good spirits and good clothing while breathing the crisp Northeast air in the clip, which appears to have been filmed last fall, they're hammering out some impressive soundscapes that mix the cascading keyboard hands of Ethan Iverson, bassist Reid Anderson's dutiful bass, and Modern Drummer cover boy King teasing out both synthesized and natural drum textures.

And here's King, who always maximizes his practice time, getting his cover time:

As for Made Possible, "It's the sound of all getting in the garage and committing no matter what," says Iverson during the documentary, which features snippets from the following songs

"Seven Minute Mind"
"Pound for Pound"
"I Want to Feel Good, Pt. 2"
"Re-Elect That"
"Wolf Out"
"For My Eyes Only"
