Although every Trampled by Turtles show Gimme Noise has ever attended has been rowdy, there has always been a shortage of plankton in attendance. All of that changes when the Duluth folk-bluegrass act gets animated and plopped into the twisted universe of Squidbillies, an Adult Swim show about the hicks of the ocean.
This is for the band's new video for "Walt Whitman," one of the standouts off this year's Stars and Satellites. Whether or not you know who trucker cap-donning Early Cuyler is on the show, this clip is a quick and dirty way to get into his tawdry universe. TBT doesn't get a ton of comparisons to Southern rockers .38 Special among humans, but you gotta watch this to see how it plays out.
Before we get started, let's be clear that the Squidbillies are not wholesome, they're not role models, and they sure as hell aren't discreet. Here's Trampled's Dave Simonett amid the slimiest groupie experience of all time with Lil Cuyler.
Trampled by Turtles open for My Morning Jacket and Band of Horses on Friday at Somerset Amphitheater. Tickets here.
