A tremendous amount of creativity and talent has been fostered by the funding from the Minnesota State Arts Board's arts and cultural heritage fund since it was passed by the state's voters in 2008. Countless musicians and artists from all over Minnesota have received much needed support from the fund for creative projects that will only add to the long legacy of inspired, imaginative works that have been produced by the boundless creative class here in Minnesota.

One of the beneficiaries of the fund has been Minneapolis singer/songwriter Alison Scott, who is now set to embark on a tour of Minnesota with the direct help of the MN State Arts Board. After her successful CD release show at the Varsity Theater in June along with her frequent collaborator/producer Kevin Bowe, Scott is bringing the stirring songs from Hiding Under The Covers, Vol. 2 on a seven-city Minnesota tour, featuring stops in many towns where she has never performed before.

This tour wouldn't be possible without the financial support from the arts and cultural heritage fund, and Scott has more than just live performances scheduled. She and Bowe (who is joining her on this tour on guitar) will be giving back to the communities that she performs in by conducting songwriting and music business seminars to provide guidance to the blossoming musicians in those areas.

In addition to Bowe, Scott's talented touring band will also feature bassist Steve Price (Rex Daisy), drummer Peter Anderson (Polara, the Honeydogs), and keyboardist James Tyler O'Neill. These shows will bring the group to some small venues in college towns throughout the state, not only spreading the abundant vocal and songwriting talents of Scott through these intimate performances, but also sharing the benefits of the arts funding for young Minnesota musicians while giving them a direct example of how the state supports its artists.

In addition to these upcoming Minnesota shows, Scott also has plans to tour with Freedy Johnston later this fall. Check out Alison's website to purchase tickets for these shows, and to find out more information on all of her upcoming performances.
