The Sudden Lovelys on their wedding reception concert and children's album

Gimme Noise spoke with the band before the show to see what they have been up to since their last album release and what upcoming projects they are working on.
The Sudden Lovelys release three albums in one year
After we released our three full length albums, we took off in the spring on a two month, West Coast tour. It was great; we were five miles from Mexico, twenty miles from Canada and followed the Pacific Ocean all the way up the coast. This country has a LOT to see and I feel like we saw a good chunk of it!
Over the summer, we were in the studio working on a children's album and on September 1st, we got married! We went to Vegas with our immediate family and had a small intimate wedding on the balcony of our hotel. It was perfect! After our wedding dinner, we went to see Neil Diamond at the MGM Garden Arena -- such a great show -- he was so humble and his voice hasn't changed a bit.
The album is finished; we are working on album art right now and plan to release this album later in the fall. We also have more than enough material to get started on another full length album. We're going to start recording that this winter in hopes of an early 2013 release.
We knew we wanted something small and the Vegas thing just kind of fell into place.
What's the best part of getting hitched in Vegas? Any crazy stories you want to share?
Hmmm. Well, we didn't do the traditional "chapel wedding," so that part of it was pretty tame. but Vegas is still pretty crazy at all times. It's constant stimulation and there's always something to do. As far as crazy stories, I think we'll keep those close to the vest.
You both are back in Minneapolis and planning a show at the Ritz Theater. What's going on with the show?
We are calling this show our "wedding celebration." Since we did a destination wedding with a small group of people, we wanted to have a way to celebrate with our extended family, friends, and fans. The two of met through music (in a previous project). We've been performing together throughout our entire relationship, and we will continue to perform together for many years to come. We thought, "What a better way to celebrate our marriage then to perform onstage together for all of our fans, friends, and family?" The show is also open to the general public; we didn't want to exclude anyone and our fans are so important to what we do. Without them, our life in music falls short.
What can we expect to see and hear on Saturday night?
You can expect a lot of emotion; this will be our most intimate show to date. We're going to give the audience an inside look of what we're about and what we're trying to do. The last time we played the Ritz, the place was just buzzing. We greeted fans in the lobby after the show and everyone was smiling, hugging, and the overwhelming response was so positive. We're trying to duplicate that, and if we can, exceed it.
