Trampled by Turtles star in MN Original and TPT's first Lowertown Line episode
Not only do the good folks at MN Original continue to have revealing profiles of Minnesota artists featured regularly on their programs, but lately they have also broadcast many stirring live performances from local musicians as part of the show as well. Astronautalis, Mason Jennings, the Suburbs, Storyhill, Heiruspecs, and Cactus Blossoms have all been featured on the program within the past few months, with many other local bands spotlighted in their archives.
Now, MN Original and Twin Cities Public Television wants to expand their music focus, and they have launched the Lowertown Line music series, a recurring music program shot with a live audience in the TPT studios in Lowertown, St. Paul.
The first episode of the Lowertown Line is scheduled to shoot before the end of the month, and the lineup is a real doozy. Trampled By Turtles will be bringing their countrified, bluegrass stomp to the intimate TPT studios, along with a currently unannounced surprise musical guest. And, as if that wasn't enough to pique your interest, Dessa from Doomtree will be serving as host of the sure-to-be-special proceedings.
Hopefully, this initial program will be just the first of many superlative live performances featured on the Lowertown Line as it gains momentum and a strong local following.
The best part is that MN Original is currently giving away free tickets to the taping, you just need to be sure to like MN Original on Facebook, and follow them on Twitter, where they will be announcing details as to how you can win tickets very soon. And if you're lucky, you will find yourself in the audience for the very first taping of the Lowertown Line.
