Be Scene MPLS is debuting
Press Play, a new series of listening parties, tonight with an exclusive first spin of rapper/producer Greg Grease's hotly awaited
Cornbread, Pearl and G, slated for release on December 11. The event will be kept small (limited to 60) and invite-only, but Gimme Noise is giving away two list spots to interested fans.
Anticipation for Grease's latest has been building since last year's excellent
The Giving Tree, which was picked by City Pages for the
Best of the Twin Cities 2011
issue. First leak "C.R.E.A.M. Dreams" (streaming below) gives a glimpse
of the record, but Press Play will provide the first real look at the
whole project and how it came together.

Held at a private loft space in the expanding Eat Street area, the format will include a social hour, question and answer period with Greg, and an opportunity to anonymously critique the record. Akrite and DJ Just Nine of Grease's crew T.U.S.S. will respectively host and spin records, as Chris Williams will be creating live art. Local microwbrewery Badger Hill will be present to provide drinks, which ought to go along nicely with the complimentary ice cream via Sebastian Joe's.
Artists, press, and other local taste-makers will all be present to hob-knob and enjoy some brand new sounds. It's also billed as "dress to impress", with a semi-formal dress code to ensure everyone looks fly.
Although Press Play is by invite only, we've got the hook up: The first two people to retweet this article to their followers on Twitter will receive a list spot and a +1. Be among the first to check out Cornbread, Pearl and G and the beginnings of this new event series!
