As the Twin Cities music scene grows, more and more artists are creating music that demands our attention. Combine the music with talented filmmakers locally and beyond, and you have a fruitful mix of distinct skills that generates more locally connected music videos than ever before.

While it's impossible to shine a spotlight on all of the great music video work going on around the area, Gimme Noise has created a new regular segment, Local Frames, which will help bring some much deserved attention to a few of the standout videos of the moment from local bands or those filmed by local directors.

Here's our tenth installment of Local Frames, featuring ten recent video selections for your viewing pleasure.

Dark Dark Dark - "Tell Me"

Taken from Dark Dark Dark's gorgeous new record, Who Needs Who, the clip for "Tell Me" puts the focus squarely on Nona Marie Invie, who appears in the video alone, observing Minneapolis while on high, then donning a protective bee keeper/astronaut-like helmet as she heads out to explore more natural surroundings. The stark, isolated video, which was directed by the talented Isaac Gale, serves to perfectly compliment the searching, plaintive tone of the number, and should put more music fans under the intoxicating spell of the Minneapolis-based chamber-pop quintet.

Night Moves - "Clips (Live On Radio K)"

The burgeoning local band Night Moves finally released their long-awaited debut, Colored Emotions, in October. But while the group was polishing up the old tunes and getting them ready for release, they also have been busy writing new material. They recently played one of their soaring new tracks, "Clips," live on Radio K, in another killer live session from the U of M's venerable 100-year-old radio station. This slowly swelling clip gives hints of the direction that Night Moves are heading in the future, while also showcasing the estimable musical talents of the band themselves.

Guante & Big Cats! - "To Young Leaders"

This potent new video and song from Guante & Big Cats! is the first single taken from their heady forthcoming new record, You Better Weaponize, which drops on Election Day. The forthright video was directed by PCP, and has Guante dropping plenty of knowledge over Big Cats! booming beats. The album features contributions from Toki Wright, Kristoff Krane, Chastity Brown, Crescent Moon, Chris Hooks, and others, and should shake anyone who has been sleeping as of late out of their ignorant slumber. These volatile new songs should get everyone's full attention at their Record Release Party at Hell's Kitchen on November 9. You can download the track for free and pre-order the album at Strange Famous Records.

Big Cats! - For My Mother Live at the Cedar

Speaking of Big Cats!, a video has just surfaced which features the complete performance of For My Mother which went down last month at the Cedar Cultural Center. The night was truly a special one, and for those of you who missed it, you can now see and hear how that deeply moving album was reproduced live by a sprawling live band. The depth and texture of these songs are quite stirring, and the skilled band brings added life to numbers that are simply drenched in emotion. Set aside 40-minutes to watch this clip and be lifted the rest of your day.

Self-Evident - "Our Condition"

The good folks over at Northern Outpost have put together an artful new video for "Our Condition" from local rock trio Self-Evident. The clip features an eerily similar free weekly called The Feedbag which touts the artistic talents of Mike Siddall, who has a gallery showing that the band turns into a aggressively festive affair. It's a tight, raucous number taken from the group's stellar recent record, We Built a Fortress on Short Notice, which is out now on DoublePlusGood Records. Self-Evident just celebrated their 15th Anniversary with a show at Hell's Kitchen, and are embarking on a two-week tour of the U.S. beginning on November 2 at the Frequency in Madison.
