John Mark Nelson, the latest darling of the local music scene, has been churning out new music with a furor ever since the 2011 release of his debut album Still Here. Since then, the 19-year-old singer-songwriter has released a second album, Waiting and Waiting, and is currently in the process of recording his third. Well, kind of. That's where you come in.
For Nelson's third album, the young artist is hoping to do something different, something bigger, and for that, he's looking for a little help. Say what you want about Kickstarter campaigns, but Nelson seems to know exactly what he wants: a professional studio album, one that can support the production and orchestration he's written.
As Nelson explains on his Kickstarter page, the as-yet-untitled album will feature "large, full-band arrangements, as well as soft, simple vignettes." He will be carrying on with his characteristically sweeping chamber-pop arrangements with percussion, string, horn, mandolin and accordion elements. Nelson is asking for $15,000 to fund the mixing, mastering, and printing of his album, as well as compensation for professional players (as opposed to Nelson tinkering on instruments himself, which has been his approach in the past).
Nelson does a good job of explaining the process in his Kickstarter video:

Nelson has a true talent for lyricism set in an approachable format, and his third album is sure to be a treat. If you have any interest in contributing to the future of a bright new artist, check out his Kickstarter page for further information. And give generously!
