New Kids on the Block displaying Package Tour dates -- Minneapolis in July
What do you do to promote a tour of aging boy bands while still trying to titillate a fan base that has grown older right along with the past-their-prime groups? In the case of the upcoming New Kids on the Block (NKOTB), 98 Degrees, and Boyz II Men joint jaunt through the U.S., you call it "The Package Tour," of course. Very funny, guys. But this sort of tease could be plenty to get maturing, swooning fans to bust out their pocketbooks for a glimpse of Jordan Knight in some close-fitting pants.
The Package Tour will promote NKOTB's upcoming new album, 10,
which is set for release on April 2. And, most importantly for
Minnesota fans, the tour is set to hit the Target Center on Saturday,
13 20, with tickets going on sale on Saturday, February 2 at 10 a.m.
It's the final date of the lengthy (sorry, couldn't resist) tour, and
hopefully the guys won't be completely worn out (again, my apologies) by
NKOTB also have a new single dropping on January 28 -- so that everyone waiting in line for tickets can have some sweet New Kids jams to listen to -- the awkwardly titled (and, let's just say it in advance, sounding) "Remix (I Like The)."
Tired of being outdone by his brother Mark (yet frustrated that the Funky Bunch will not be touring with them), Donnie Wahlberg has this to say to a select portion of his fan base: "Ladies, we're coming for you. This is going to be the craziest year yet--the single, the album, the tour with 98 Degrees and Boyz II Men...We can't wait to give fans 'The Package!'" Of course you can't.
Meanwhile, those 98 Degrees fans who have waited breathlessly for 12 years for the band to eventually tour again, your long national nightmare is over, and the group is coming back just for you. "We are really excited to get back on the road together and tour with our friends in NKOTB and Boyz II Men," says Nick Lachey. "Looking forward to playing our hits and trying out some of our new tracks too." Yes, 98 Degrees has new material coming out, too (and hits, apparently).
And don't worry, the guys in Boyz II Men are just as excited for the tour -- and full of highly suggestive things to say about it -- even if their inclusion is somewhat of a strange fit (sorry, everything ends up as a bad pun on 'The Package Tour'). "This has been in the works for a while," says Wanya Morris. "'The Package' is on its way, and we're going to deliver."
