Transmission announces '90s-themed 12th birthday party at First Avenue
Rudh tells Gimme Noise the big twist this time around is a fresh decade of decadence thrown into the mix. The night is dubbed "Common People," referencing that magical Pulp hit off their '95 Different Class release, and 90's indie and alternative will burst from the speakers -- with a few '80s cult classics thrown in just for fun -- all night long.

Jake Rudh and Transmission get a shout out from original MTV VJ Martha Quinn
Rudh dishes that revelers can expect a playlist "heavy on the British and European artists (Blur, Pulp, Bjork,
Cardigans, My Bloody Valentine, PJ Harvey, Radiohead, etc) but just as
many US acts (Smashing Pumpkins, Weezer, Beastie Boys, Nirvana, Garbage,
Nine Inch Nails, Dandy Warhols, Pixies, Breeders, R.E.M. etc)." Each song played during the evening will feature its corresponding music video. You know, like this one.
Transmission's 12th birthday is at 8 p.m. Friday, March 15 at First Avenue. $6 advance/ $8 doors. Tickets onsale: Friday, Jan 11 at noon. More here.
