Van Stee - "We Are (Live from Humans Win! Studio for the Current)"

The dynamic pulse of Van Stee's "We Are" has been captivating local music fans for a while now, and now the local quintet are set to finally release their debut full-length to a Twin Cities music scene that is more than ready for it to arrive. We Are was recorded at the fabled Humans Win! Studios in northeast Minneapolis over the past year, and the group are having a CD-release celebration at Icehouse this Saturday, March 2, along with the supremely talented John Mark Nelson opening. This live clip, shot for the Current, was recorded at the familiar confines of Humans Win!, and captures the intoxicating sound of the full band delivering one of the clear breakout hits of the past few months.

Aby Wolf - "Brave Boy"

Aby Wolf and Grant Cutler just had a successful release show of their own for their brilliant new album, Wolf Lords, this past weekend, and "Brave Boy" is the first official video taken from the record. The clip was directed by Matt Visionquest, and features spacey visuals that form the perfect accompaniment to the song's ethereal, futuristic beats. Wolf's dulcet vocals soar over it all, crafting a bold, enthralling musical statement that continues throughout the entire album, one that should bring the duo plenty of well-deserved attention during the upcoming year and beyond.

Gramma's Boyfriend - "I Have This Feeling/Shuger Crash!"

The Minneapolis supergroup of sorts, Gramma's Boyfriend, have remastered their debut full-length, The Human Eye, and have a big party planned at Icehouse on March 9 to celebrate the long-awaited vinyl release of their initial effort. To promote their upcoming show (and the sparkling new red and blue vinyl pressings of The Human Eye), Gramma's Boyfriend shot a playful video, directed by Torey Bonar and Erin Hael, for two of the album's standouts, "I Have This Feeling" and "Shuger Crash!" The spirited group clearly dove head-first into the festivities, dressing up in humorous costumes along with their friends while creating a lively atmosphere that adds to the jocular nature of the songs themselves.

Sean Anonymous - "Sunny"

Local MC Sean Anonymous just dropped a new video for "Sunny," taken from his debut album, Anonymo. The clip, which was directed by Dave Wilson for Free Weather Films, gives some everyday experiences a colorful, animated twist that complements the game Sean is kicking within the verses of the bouncy number. Sean is hitting the road in March for a brief tour, which brings him back to Minneapolis for a show with Enemy Planes and Ecid at the Triple Rock on March 23.

Typsy Panthre - "Moiré Circles"

Local electro-pop duo Typsy Panthre continue their string of eye-catching videos for their self-titled debut album with "Moiré Circles." The lovely clip was made by vocalist Allison LaBonne, and features the rhythmic, endless cycle of the ocean's pull, and how hypnotizing (and visually arresting) that can be. In these gray, dreary days of winter, the serene glimpses of beaches and waves crashing definitely have an appeal, and they perfectly suit the buoyant quality of the track as well.
