It's no surprise that the worldly, chamber-pop charms of the Minneapolis quintet Dark Dark Dark has found an audience throughout the U.S. and Europe. Their sound has both a classic appeal and modern flourishes that are pleasing both to the ear as well as the heart.

At their transfixing Who Needs Who record release show at the Cedar back in October, the group debuted two new songs that night, "What I Needed" and "I Collect Things," proving that they are still energized creatively and are already moving ahead with new material. Those two new songs, as well as the stunning Who Needs Who bonus track, "Love Lies" (which the band also played at their memorable Cedar show) and a disco-house remix of "How It Went Down" are all set to be included as part of a special Record Store Day 10-inch release in the U.K., with a digital version available worldwide on April 23.

To give you an idea what to expect from the EP, you can stream "What I Needed" below.

And that swelling universal allure for Dark Dark Dark has clearly drawn the rapt attention of the National as well, who tapped singer Nona Marie Invie to provide vocals on their highly anticipated new album, Trouble Will Find Me, which is due out on May 21. Invie joins other celebrated guests on the National record like Sufjan Stevens, Annie Clark (St. Vincent), Sharon Van Etten, and Arcade Fire's Richard Reed Parry.

Hopefully, fans who enjoy her work on that high-profile album but aren't already aware of her band will seek out Dark Dark Dark's brilliant back catalog, and fall under their spell just like the rest of us.

Dark Dark Dark have a string of European tour dates planned for this spring and summer, including prominent appearances at London's Field Day Festival on May 25, and the Latitude Festival in Suffolk on July 20.

The group will then be returning to the States for a planned U.S. tour this fall, with dates and locations forthcoming soon. And more than likely, they will manage to squeeze in another special hometown show for their growing fan base here in the Twin Cities.
