Watch Prince perform "Let's Go Crazy" on the Billboard Music Awards

Prince kicked off what should be an epic week with a storming of the 2013 Billboard Music Awards Sunday in Las Vegas. It was announced earlier this year that he'd be collecting the Icon Award at the ceremony, and he did, with Erykah Badu and Janelle Monáe presenting the honor.

He also performed a medley of "Let's Go Crazy" and "FIXURLIFEUP" at the ceremony with his new backing band 3rdEyeGirl. The version of his 1984 hit that he's been playing live lately is a grittier, bluesier take, and is a powerful showcase for the ensemble. The clip provides an aperitif for the sumptuous feast of two shows at Myth that hit this Saturday.

Update: The video has been taken down. If a new version pops up, we'll let you know.

Here's 3rdEyeGirl being interviewed before performing at the event: Further insight comes via Jon Bream's lengthy story in Sunday's Star Tribune. Bream was flown out to Denver to take in a Prince show and sit down for an interview. As is true for any conversation with the Purple One, this occurred without any note-taking or taping of the conversation. Though there is plenty of discussion of the current state of Prince's career, it also details the sometimes tempestuous relationship between Bream and the star, which traces back to the late-'70s. Engaging, funny, and off-the-wall, this is a marvelous hometown perspective on the artist that we can't help talking about and reading about.

Also, this week, Prince officially inked with Kobalt Label Services. The label roster also includes Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, New Kids on the Block, and the Pet Shop Boys. The deal is expected to include Prince's own material, as well as related acts.

"This video has been removed by the user." Kind of takes the wind out of the sails of the article, as that's the headline focus: "Watch Prince perform "Let's Go Crazy" on the Billboard Music Awards"

The only 5 minutes worth watching on this lame show. Prince kicked butt.
