Area music fans never really need much of an excuse to stop into the Electric Fetus. The renowned Minneapolis record shop has something to suit the needs of anyone and everyone, no matter what styles of music you are into or who your favorite band is.

And now, the Fetus is set to celebrate their 45th Anniversary in grand fashion, with a six day-long, store-wide sale beginning today (June 5), as well as live in-store performances scheduled for June 9-10. There are also coveted music-related prizes and free giveaways on offer, as well as an exclusive 7-inch pressed specifically to mark the momentous occasion.

Electric Fetus' 45th Anniversary sale runs from June 5-10, and gives music fans 20% off nearly everything in the store (excluding tickets, tobacco, gift cards, Mix & Burn CDs, Rip Shark services and music already on sale).

In addition to those great savings, the Fetus has pressed a limited-edition, hand-numbered 7" which features a new Charlie Parr track on the A-side that he recorded specifically to mark the occasion, with a remix of that same song by Dosh on the B-side. This 7-inch will be given out free (while supplies last) with qualifying $20 purchases beginning at 5 p.m. on Monday, June 10.

On top of all of those festivities, the Fetus has some terrific in-store performances to mark the special occasion as well. At 11:30 a.m. on Sunday, June 9, the animated kids-favorite, Gustafer Yellowgold, will be playing a family-friendly set. Yellowgold's creator Morgan Taylor will be joined by local musicians John Munson, Ken Chastain and Tom Scott, who will help bring Gustafer's anthems to life.

On Monday, June 10, the day of the Electric Fetus' actual 45th Anniversary, the record shop has a big party planned. In addition to the deep discounts and the free giveaways (including a First Avenue Gold Membership and various Box Sets from Warner Music Group), there will be food trucks on site from Natedogs and Hola Arepa, as well as free 45th birthday cookies frosted to look like classic 45's.

And the party wouldn't be complete without some great live music, and the Fetus has a terrific free lineup of music to help ring in the festivities. Here's the music lineup and scheduled set times for the Electric Fetus' 45th Anniversary Party on Monday, June 10th.

6:00 p.m. - Crimes

7:00 p.m. - Strange Names

8:00 p.m. - Lucy Michelle

@Sharon Elizabeth Rossi you are planning to "buy" cd's. you know nobody has said that in 7-10 years

@digitalprotocol Believe it or not people still buy CDs, including myself and my friends. You might not buy CDs but there still are people who would much rather buy music on CD (or vinyl) as opposed to downloading music.

@digitalprotocol @Erica Some people actually buy their music to support the artists, instead of pirating everything. Amazing concept, I know.
