Local Frames is a weekly column spotlighting the best new music videos featuring musicians and directors with Minnesota ties.

This week we start off featuring a restrained (for him) new video from Mark Mallman for a track lifted from his recent record, Double Silhouette. We also have new clips from MaLLy, Botzy, a lovely fan made video featuring the music of Gospel Gossip, and a brilliant collaboration between Dark Dark Dark's Nona Marie Invie and the celebrated graphic novelist Alan Moore. We are also spotlighting a selection of striking videos from Season 2 of Adam J. Dunn's Lights and a Backdrop series, with intimate, pared-down clips from GRRRL PRTY, Big Cats, MunQs, Neon, and Rapper Hooks (who also features prominently in MaLLy's new video). Enjoy!

Mark Mallman - "Slow the Guillotine"

Dynamic Minneapolis singer/songwriter/showman Mark Mallman gets a bit reflective on his somber new video for "Slow The Guillotine," which was shot by Chris Hadland. The pensive track is drawn from Mallman's spirited recent record, Double Silhouette.

MaLLy - "Bounce (ft. Rapper Hooks)"

This is the fourth (and apparently the final) single/video to be lifted from MaLLy and the Sundance Kid's triumphant album, The Last Great. Rapper Hooks drops by the vibrant club scene featured in the clip to lend his verses to the banging track. Look for MaLLy to drop some new music later this year.

Nona Marie Invie, Alan Moore, and Mitch Jenkins - "Jimmy's End"

This animated video for a collaborative project from illustrious graphic novelist Alan Moore (Watchmen, V For Vendetta) and Mitch Jenkins features the intoxicating vocals of Dark Dark Dark's Nona Marie Invie. Moore and Jenkins have launched a Kickstarter campaign to help fund this planned short film which is teased in the clip. The lovely storyboard animations featured in the video were done by Kristian Hammerstad.

Botzy - "Thrill Is Gone (Wesley Opus Remix)"

Local MC Botzy just dropped his new record, Buck Fotzy, earlier this week, and to celebrate the occasion he also put out this brand new video for the smooth Wesley Opus remix of his track, "Thrill Is Gone." The video, directed by Adam J. Dunn with Director of Photography Ryan Thompson, features some competitive kickball as well as Botzy's culinary exploits, all over the track's relaxed, old-school beats.

Gospel Gossip - "Atlantic Blue"

This nautical-themed fan-made video perfectly suits "Atlantic Blue," one of the standout tracks on Gospel Gossip's fantastic, self-titled new record. The archival footage of the fury of the sea serves to compliment the swelling guitar squall featured in the glorious track, which builds to a wave of discord right along with the video itself.
