MPR's Wits announces lineup for fall 2013 season

The stylish combination of comedy, music, and memorable unscripted moments has proven to be quite a winning formula for Wits, the provocative and always entertaining show put on by American Public Media and Minnesota Public Radio.

The highly anticipated lineup for the upcoming fall 2013 season of Wits has just been announced, and once again it's packed with amusing, engaging comedians and entertainers, as well as a strong roster of talented musical guests spread throughout the 10 shows.

On Wednesday, September 4, the Fitzgerald Theater will play host to a special Wits happy hour, where members of the Wits Social Club will be able to buy tickets to the upcoming season. John Moe, John Munson, and the Witnesses will all be on hand, as well as the Current's Barb Abney and other friends of the show, with snacks and drink specials available to fans as well.

As for the fall 2013 Wits season itself, here is the stellar, talented cast of characters who are going to make these upcoming shows memorable:

Friday, October 25:

Friday, November 1:
Aisha Tyler and musical guest Loudon Wainwright III

Thursday, November 7:
Ellie Kemper and musical guest Waxahatchee

Thursday, November 14:
Margaret Cho and musical guest Josh Ritter

Thursday, November 21:
Jim Gaffigan and musical guest Busdriver

Thursday, December 5:
Tim Heidecker and musical guests Aimee Mann and Ted Leo (solo)

Friday, December 13:
David Cross and musical guest Har Mar Superstar

Friday, December 20:

Maria Bamford and musical guest Thao Nguyen

For this upcoming season, Wits is introducing the Wits Social Club, where die-hard fans can ensure that they get the first crack at buying tickets to each season, with a 10 percent discount available for members on all ticket purchases. There will also be Wits-related giveaways throughout the season, and other exclusive offers made available throughout the year.

Why is it that Wits tends to have great comedians but music that appeals to 40+ current listeners? Oh, because John Moe is an aging gen-xer. I guess it's good he lives in Saint Paul...
