You can throw a wadded-up bar napkin in any direction at the CC Club and probably hit a local musician, but it's far more rare to actually hear 'em playing at the Uptown watering hole. This December, the historic space that has hosted one of the great cultural revolutions of the Twin Cities and is fodder for the New York Times' assessment of our singles scene is gonna rock out.

Yes, the CC Club is marking its 80th anniversary with a pair of shows on December 6-7. As a press release points out, it's been decades since a band has played the 227-capacity room.

We know that there are a dozen bands set to play, but the CC is keeping that lineup under wraps for the moment. Given the love that plenty of influential bands that cut their teeth in the '80s expressed for the place in City Pages' oral history of the bar, it could literally be ANYONE. "A variety of local headlining acts, which have, and continue to put Minneapolis's music scene on the map," eh? Update from CC Club regarding the lineup: "We're keeping it a complete secret." Suggested attire for the shows is post-Prohibition garb.

More details to come via the CC's Facebook page. The week before the shows will bring karaoke, DJs spinning local music, and more special activities. Tickets for the 80th anniversary bash will only be available at the bar.

CC Club 80th anniversary. $19.33 (or round up to $20 to donate to the Bridge for Youth), Friday, December 6, and Saturday, December 7, at CC Club, 2600 Lyndale Ave. S., Minneapolis.
