This week marks the beginning of October. Why not celebrate fall with some rad tunes? Thursday brings the rapper Le1f to First Ave to get us dancing. Friday the ever ambient Why? plays the Fine Line, while local boppers Teenage Moods release their latest cassettes. Saturday, KT Tunstall is welcomed by a sold out show at the Cedar while Birthday Suits play the Turf Club. Quintron & Miss Pussycat play the First Avenue Mainroom Tuesday while Noah and the Whale make an appearance at the Varsity.

Le1f is a breath of fresh air for hip-hop. His debut mixtape Dark York, featuring the infectious single "Wut," made an impact thanks to an ear for experimental production and raps that float atop effortlessly. His latest, Tree House, sounds airily futuristic while remaining rooted in the gritty and aggressive tunnel bangers on which he was raised. Trained in ballet and modern dance, his live shows are a sight to behold, as he incorporates his studied side alongside ratchet abandon for an incredible stage presence. While most media attention stems from his status as an openly gay rapper, it's impossible to deny his original sound and persona. With Antwon and Lakutis. -- Jack Spencer
