Last weekend's Yo Gotti show at Epic will be remembered as a tragic night for many as a 27-year-old was shot and killed at the club. The Hennepin County Medical Examiner's Office released the Brooklyn Park man's name Tuesday.

After gunfire was heard in the club at about 1 a.m. on Sunday, Minneapolis police responded to the scene and blocked off the intersection of First Avenue and Fifth Street with several dozen squad cars. On Monday, police chief Janeé Harteau said the city needs to take an active role in keeping downtown safe.

Authorities say Tyrone Washington Jr. died of a gunshot wound to the chest in a homicide. The police account says that Washington and the shooter were arguing inside the club. The gunman fired at him, and then ran off. Washington's body was found on the sidewalk outside Epic.

According to Harteau, Washington was previously known to law enforcement and has an extensive criminal history. So far, witnesses are being less than cooperative. Retaliation is feared, so police presence was been increased in the blocks near the nightclubs on Sunday. So far, no one is in custody in connection with the incident.

"My thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of the victim," says Epic general manager Beecher Vaillancourt. "So sad and unnecessary."

I really hate when ppl get on these sites and start judging these ppl. I don't care what his background looks like no person deserves to die that way. There's a lot of factors that come in to play to where these young men grown up the way they do. To say good riddance and "typical name" you guys are ridiculous and heartless....he was still someone's father brother son come on you guys you all have to do better!

This it's being blown out of proportion. Go to a hood show and ya get hood results, end of story. Epic is undoubtedly garbage though.

His body wasn't "found" on the sidewalk, the bouncers took him out of the club and set him there waiting for first responders...
