Bassgasm 10 lineup announced
|Tommy Four Seven|
For those who live to dance before the face-melting power of a Wall of Bass, there are few such satisfying events as the famed Bassgasm. For its tenth installment and first 2014 edition, Bassgasm is returning to hijack all of First Avenue for a night and turn it into a five-area, eight-hour, EDM-fueled rager complete with a laser show and 'cranial photobooth' by Cranial Industries. Get your rave gear ready. This lineup is sure to deliver.
Local DJs and promotors played a big part in curating the selection of artists. Music from all realms of EDM will be amply represented.
Among headliners is critically acclaimed techno DJ and producer Tommy Four Seven, who is presented by local techno hard hitters System and Intellephunk. Tommy is a core member of Chris Liebing's CLR label. He brings a refreshingly abrasive attitude to his performances, and utilizes a singular approach to sound design.
"I'm excited to see a top-notch techno act like Tommy Four Seven being showcased on the main stage of Bassgasm 10," says Steve "Centrific" of Intellephunk, who will also be performing himself. "It's been a while since there has been techno in a big room around here. It's time the younger generation get to experience techno on the 'Wall of Bass', something we all grew up on and maybe even took for granted."
TWRK, the newest hottest protegé of SuperStar DJ DIPLO/Major Laser and the poster boys for the worldwide Twerk sensation, will also be headlining. The group is made up of the mysterious and elusive DJ Benzi and Esentrik. According to Bassgasm founder Woody McBride, while there will be no twerkers on the stage, "the best booty bass music and the shakin' will all be on the dancefloor."

Shannon Blowtorch will bring her special brand of high energy and eclectic mixes. "I'm stoked to play a great slot at Bassgasm," she says. "My favorite area in the venue is the second floor in front of the big bar, and thats where I'll be melting your face off at midnight." Shannon is a jack of all trades in the entertainment industry, and part of Twin Cities' all girl hip-hop crew GRRRL PRTY.
HARD DANCE MN will present Lady Faith, who is hailed by HARD DANCE's Danny Insixiengmay as North America's top hard style DJ and producer. She has toured across the globe with the intent of bringing American Hard Dance to uncharted territories, utilizing her unique mixture of Persian sounds and pounding kicks.
Espada of local hip-hop turntablists Wants Vs Needs will be departing from his usual sound in favor of a more Wall of Bass-appropriate house sound. "I'm going to step outside of the box and play a diverse set of house, B-more and big room tunes. I've played the record room during this event in the previous years with my Wants Vs Needs brethren, and we kept it more on the 'house party' feel," he says. For those who aren't as savvy as others in EDM lingo, the term "B-more" refers to Baltimore club music, which is a blend of hip-hop and house music created in Baltimore, Maryland in the late '80s. Expect high energy tunes with a very sexy feel.
Partiers will also enjoy a live performance from the James Patrick Band, featuring John Keston, Jon Davis, Chris Cunningham, Chuck Love and Graham O'Brien. The James Patrick Band explores the marriage of technology and master musicianship. Patrick is an owner of two local arts organizations -- Gamut Gallery and Slam Academy -- platforms that he uses to foster and showcase new ideas and talents in the field of technology arts.

|Bobby Kahn of So You Think You Kahn Dance|
For those who need a little extra guidance in letting their dance freak flags fly, Bobby Kahn will be bringing his dance class So You Think You Kahn Dance in prime time live on the mainroom floor. "I will show people how to dance and walk around with confidence," says Kahn. "I will show people how to be a better Bassgasm attendee, and most importantly, I will show people how to be cooler." What more can you ask for?
TC Dubstep will be hosting "granola glitch hop" style California DJs Digital Rust and Mr. Rogers, who will bring what McBride describes as "interesting, psychedelic beats." Also performing is Izhevski -- co-founder of the international deep mix techno movement from Deep Mix Moscow Radio and Shanti Radio from Moscow, Russia, who is one of McBride's DJ heroes and is presented by Deep Mix, Minneapolis.
With its wide array of entertainment, Bassgasm 10 promises to be one unforgettable night of EDM!
