Record Store Day in the Twin Cities has become a bigger deal with each passing year. Music fans in the area have not only come to depend on the thrill of tracking down the numerous exclusive releases that are featured on RSD, but also the unique events that most independent record stores plan for the big day.
Hymie's Vintage Records typically goes all out for its grand celebration of both live and recorded music, and for the store's fourth annual Record Store Day Block Party on Saturday, April 19, the owners have planned their biggest event yet. In addition to the wide array of exclusive RSD releases on offer, Hymie's will be closing off 39th Avenue to host an outdoor music stage, which will feature performances by 14 fantastic local bands, including Black Diet, who will be celebrating their own album release that day.
In addition to Black Diet, the Brian Just Band, Chastity Brown, the Ericksons, Martin Devaney, Adam Kiesling & Mikkel Beckman of Corpse Reviver, Brian Laidlaw and the Family Trade, Jake Manders, Pennyroyal, the Poor Nobodys, Southside Desire, Ben Weaver, Whiskey Jeff and the Beer Back Band, and the White Whales will all be performing throughout what is sure to be a festive day at Hymie's.
The sound for the day will be dialed in by Mother of All Music, and Hymie's has also partnered with Radio K and Pabst Blue Ribbon to ensure a fun-filled day for everyone who drops by. There will also be an outdoor beer garden sponsored by Merlins Rest Pub, as well as a big record sale taking place throughout the day.
Hymie's Record Store Day Block Party will take place on Saturday, April 19, from 11 a.m. - 9 p.m., with RSD events taking place both at the outdoor stage and inside the shop, located at 3820 E. Lake Street in Minneapolis.
