Rhymesayers just gave area hip-hop fans a big reason to look forward to the warmer months, as they released the lineup for the seventh annual Soundset festival.

In addition to Atmosphere's standard headlining set, they will be joined by Wiz Khalifa, Nas (who will be playing a set celebrating the 20th anniversary of his classic album, Illmatic), 2 Chainz, Cypress Hill, a collaboration between Tyler the Creator and Earl Sweatshirt called Earlwolf, and a whole host of other national and local hip-hop acts that are sure to turn Canterbury Park into a nonstop party on May 25.

In addition to the music at the two main stages, the Fifth Element Tent, and the Essential Elements Tent, there will be, as in Soundset's past, a skateboarding competition, a custom car show, freestyle sessions, B-boy/B-girl competitions, and live paintings done by the Seventh Letter crew.

The local hip-hop community is always well-represented at Soundset, and this year is no different, as Prof, Lizzo & Lazerbeak, Dem Atlas, Dosh, Toki Wright & Big Cats, Allan Kingdom, K. Raydio & Psymun, and a host of other local MCs and DJs will be taking part in this year's festivities. The event will be hosted by Brother Ali, Sway Calloway, and J. Pratt.

Tickets are on sale Saturday, March 8, at 11 a.m. to the general public through www.ticketweb.com and Fifth Element. General admission tickets are $55 ($3 facility fee and parking are included in ticket price); VIP options for $125 (including $3 facility fee and parking) are also available.

Never liked whiz or 2chainz.. I would love to see Q-Bert again though! Not sure I would pay to see all of them just for q-Bert.

Really wish Brother Ali would head line this! I don't like the sound of slugs voice anymore. Something just isn't doing it for me.

Outkast is most likely going to Summer Set

I would have liked to seen Outkast on this list.

Too bad they are missing all the Canadian hip hop: Evil Ebenezer, Snak the Ripper, Merkules and Swollen Members. Better than everything else out there right now.

Best lineup yet. Glad to see PROF is back yet again!

I think for the price of the event it's a good deal regardless who is on the line up. If you people pouting don't wanna go then don't go. Don't rain on everyone else parade because you can't make the best out of something. Haters

I've been at Soundset every year since it started and this is by far the best lineup!

The lineup 3 years ago was the best lineup soundset has ever had. Last year and this years lineup are just sad. I mean much love to atmosphere, but wiz and 2chainz? I thought it was a joke.

Excited for this lineup, just hope Nas actually shows up.  He has a history of being a no show in the Twin Cities.

Everyone that has got a chip on their shoulder should maybe hear some of these artists before you discredit them. Sound Set has come a long way since the first show.

I think you guys should do a q&a about the line up

Funny no busta rhymes since he said he was supposed to "make up" his last minute cancel at last years soundset due to plane issues. Lol liar.

Disappointed. Last year was my first trip to soundset. Loved it. Saving my money this year.

Lame. Nas is classic but not worth dealing with 20,000 bros and teenagers to see him. You can see all of the headliners in venues that hold less than 2,000 people and all of the smaller acts in venues that hold less than 500 people and get a lot better show.

You must not have been there. The first years were the best.

@mingtranI know the first years were the best for Sound Set, and in terms of them being able to book the musicians they have throughout, sponsorship, vendors, and crowd year after year, it has come a long way.

@neaanjt @digitalprotocolAnd Soundset Booking dictates that they can't play a show within a certain mile radius in the coming months of the event.
