A ton of negative energy on the comments here…. except for Pam, sad to see but it's okay.

I had never heard of these bands before attending but instead of "yawning" as one of the below commenters suggested, I decided to go check it out with my girlfriend. We attended the concert, it was incredible and inspired me to write a blog post about the experience: http://lucidpractice.com/amazing-michael-franti-concert-minneapolis/

Michael Franti is the man and we all had a blast!

They really need the money - they spend a lot fighting against gay marriage.

Where are you seeing that the Flaming Lips are playing? I didn't see them on the lineup.

I don't understand why people keep giving money to the catholic church. what is wrong with people.

Given the recent sexist actions by Wayne Coyne of the Lips and the longstanding sexual abuse allegations against the Diocese of St. Paul in Minneapolis, I think that the choice of the Lips as headliner is almost a poetic coupling of like minds.

Yes. Let's all give money to help defend child rapists.

YUP! Everybody go out and give tons of money to the organization that loves protecting child rapists!

I couldn't agree more. People need to get off their high horses and embrace all that the city has to offer musically, artistically and socially. It's a great place to live I didn't fully appreciate its uniqueness until I had to move away for work.

I only wish I were back home in Minneapolis to attend. This has always been a wonderful event and I really miss it. Looks like all the negative Nellie's won't be attending which would make this all the more enjoyable.

A lineup that's as anemic as the Catholic church. No thanks.

I guess Michael Franti really doesn't care what kind of people want to pay him money. Even if they are bigots who oppress women, work actively against gay rights, and protect rapists.

great comments. The church doesn't even pay taxs. Why the F would Franti even bother unless he punks them.

Doesn't matter to me who's playing. Even if I got to hang with the bands I would not go to anything that supports the catholic church.

Lol... Looks like the Catholic Church isn't cool anymore...

Lol. Guess I'm not needed here. Ditto pretty much everything they ↑ said.

No. It is not a good time to Support this dysfunctional church. Will never attend.

I'll support the basilica when the CC supports the LGBTQI rights and women's rights to contraception and abortion.. oh, and when they purge all the pedophiles from their ranks.

I can't get into the Catholic spirit somehow, regardless of who's playing.
