Black Diet is one of the bands taking part in Como Zoo's Groovin' In The Garden music series

Among the many pleasures of living in the Twin Cities are the live music performances that take place in unexpected locations. The Como Park Zoo and Conservatory has been hosting a number of these memorable performances as of late, and this summer, they have announced a stellar lineup of acts who will perform as part of their Groovin' In The Garden music series.

Beginning on June 18, the free, family oriented concerts will take place every Wednesday night throughout the summer on the Visitor Center lawn.

Groovin' In The Garden kicks off on Wednesday, June 18, with Crankshaft & the Gear Grinders, who are set to perform from 6 - 8 p.m (all shows in the series run from 6 - 8 p.m.)

The Jack Brass Band are next up in the series, and are set to perform on Wednesday, June 25. The Jack Brass Band are also taking part in Como Zoo's Music Mondays, where they will be leading a Second Line Parade through the zoo grounds during the day each Monday throughout the summer.

Trailer Trash will be Groovin' In The Garden on Wednesday, July 2, kicking off the July 4 holiday celebrations. The hotly-tipped sextet Black Diet are set to perform on the Visitor Center lawn on July 9, in what should be a vibrant outdoor performance under the summer sun in St. Paul. Malamanya keeps the strong July lineup going, as they will surely enthrall the crowd on July 16.

Black Diet's Piñata Records labelmates Southside Desire will take their turn getting the crowd revved up on July 23. The Groovin' In The Garden music series comes to a close with shows from the Melvilles on July 30, and the Limns on August 6.

There are plenty of other special events scheduled to take place at the Como Park Zoo and Observatory. To find out more about them along with the artists taking part in the Groovin' In The Garden series, check out their website.

I love Como Zoo! Always free, nice and peaceful. A million times better than the apple valley Zoo that closes at 4 pm on school nights and charge you twenty bucks to get in and ten bucks to park.

LOL the person who wrote this was trying REALLY hard to turn a list of concert dates into an article.. Except the Limns got the shaft on the creative imagery for some reason.. thats too bad.
