Seminal '90s heavy rockers Babes in Toyland are reforming!

Frontwoman Kat Bjelland and bassist Maureen Herman were interviewed at Pasadena College yesterday, and the two let slip that a new formation of the band is coming. Both previously recorded Babes in Toyland material, and new stuff is expected to be part of the mix.

Formed in Minneapolis in the late '80s, Babes in Toyland put out three albums -- 1990's Spanking Machine via Twin Tone, and major Reprise Records released 1992's Fontanelle and 1995's Nemisisters -- before permanently disbanding in 2001. Over the years, the band saw many bassists come and go, including founding member Courtney Love. After Babes broke up, Bjelland formed Katastrophy Wife and released a series of EPs and two full-lengths. More on her recent years' activity via the Current.

Why is the reunion happening now? "It just seemed like a good time."

The first show -- a drummer has not been officially announced yet -- is expected to be here in Minneapolis as part of a to-be-announced Lady Parts Justice benefit.

I knew my mp3 player picked "Handsome and Gretal" today for a reason.

That would be really nice. I don't want to say epic or awesome. That would sound uptown hipster. There real followers were from the suburbs.
