Idina Menzel to sing National Anthem for MLB All-Star Game at Target Field
Just when you thought National Anthem couldn't get more viral, the wickedly talented Idina Menzel has been tapped to perform it at the 2014 MLB All-Star Game, which will be held July 15 at Target Field.
Idina Menzel, AKA Elsa from Frozen, will sing the National Anthem at this year's All-Star Game.
Famous for singing the Oscar-winning "Let It Go" in the box office smash Frozen and having John Travolta butcher her name at the 2014 Academy Awards ceremony, Menzel is part of a weekend of music and baseball that will also include R&B star Aloe Blacc, emo punks Panic! At the Disco, jam-rockers O.A.R., and an Imagine Dragons/Atmosphere show at TCF Stadium that made scalpers' eyes light up.

Before working out Francis Scott Key's "The Star-Spangled Banner," Menzel will take on the work of another iconic songwriter, and one with Minnesota ties. Though the timing of the 30th anniversary of Purple Rain would make a Prince cover apt, she'll let her pipes go for a cover of Bob Dylan's "Forever Young" prior to the start of Tuesday's All-Star Game. On the outside chance you're scratching your head and wondering, "who?" this is the video for "Let It Go." It has 275 million YouTube views.
The Minnesota Orchestra Brass Quintet will handle "O Canada," and country artist Joe Nichols will sing "God Bless America." Earlier in the day, O.A.R. and Minnesota a capella group Home Free will play the All-Star Pre-Game Celebration outside of Target Field.
In the days leading up, Imagine Dragons and Atmosphere will take over TCF Stadium on Saturday, July 12. Then, Panic! At the Disco will play before the All-Star Legends & Celebrity Softball Game at Target Field on Sunday, July 13. On Monday, July 14, Aloe Blacc will kick off the Gillette Home Run Derby with "Wake Me Up" and "Can You Do This."
A rundown of the many TV networks you'll need to tune into to catch all of this music is here.
The 2014 MLB All-Star Game airs Tuesday, July 15, on FOX at 6:30 p.m. CST.
