Craig Finn honored with a lying fake Twitter account

Fake twitter accounts are très vogue currently, for obvious reasons; it's satiric gold for @Jesus to tweet, on Star Wars Day: "I could totally take Yoda." Or @FakeAPStylebook (the real AP Stylebook a well-thumbed usage reference sitting somewhere, like a stepchild, on your favorite journalist's desk) ruling that "it is no longer necessary to write new stories about Facebook privacy issues; just change the dates" (especially apropos today).

And so, over the past day, @FakeCraigFinn has been sending updates supposedly in the lyrical style of our Cities' most favoritest slam poet. It takes a while to fully 'assume' a role for something like this, but whoever is behind it is sharpening their poker stick fairly quick. Can you tell the difference between the fake and the real? We'll start out easy...

Chelsea Handler adds second Minneapolis show

Categories: Comedy
A few Tuesdays ago, we announced on Twitter that Chelsea Handler from E!'s Chelsea Lately is coming to Minneapolis in April.  The result was nothing less than a Twitter storm, dozens of fans retweeting and asking for tickets. Needless to say, the show sold out pretty quickly, but fans of the blonde Playboy cover girl and comedy queen are not left out in the cold: LiveNation tells City Pages a second show has been added.

Tom Segura tonight at Acme Comedy

Categories: Comedy
Tom Segura's material covers subjects from vintage porn to animal attacks, with an easy delivery and a sarcastic edge. Tonight at 8 p.m. (tickets are $15) he's starting a run at Acme, a far cry from his supposedly ambivalence towards getting into stand-up in the first place. You can read more in our A-List this week, or check out some of his comedy in these videos.

For anyone who was wise enough to attend the simulcast of Mike Nelson, Kevin Murphy, and Bill Corbitt's devastation of Plan 9 From Outer Space earlier this year, take heed--tonight at various AMC theaters statewide, the cast of Mystery Science Theater 3000 will be taking the grimmest and gravest celluloid ever wasted on the Yuletide and turning it into even blacker comedy.

David Cross tonight at the State Theatre

He's the youngest 45 year-old we can think of.

Isn't it weird how this middle aged man has managed to insinuate himself into the cultural awareness of the 20-something hipster set?

Well he has, mostly by keeping his humor unapologetically adolescent and obsessed with pot smoking, weird snacks, and getting drunk. Touring rock bars, and letting punk bands open for him, didn't hurt either.

Dwight York goes to Sturgis

Categories: Comedy

York.jpg

There are only a few hard and fast rules in standup comedy. Never tell a joke you didn't write. Never tell jokes standing on the same level as the audience. Don't do comedy outside. Don't do comedy in broad daylight.

Twin Cities favorite Dwight York is going to break those last two rules this week when he becomes one of the few comedians to grace the stage at Sturgis, the motorcycle mega-rally in South Dakota. York will be performing multiple sets every day throughout the next week, including two appearances on the main stage and one during the notorious Miss Buffalo Chip pageant (you know, the one John McCain generously offered to enter his wife Cindy into last year).
