Ok, ok, one more Halloween post and then WE ARE DONE. Until next year.

First Avenue's Mainroom was packed to the rafters last night for their annual Halloween bash, and we had photographers roaming the scene to snap all of the great costumes. As with last Saturday's Too Much Blood dance night, we spotted more than a few notable music-themed costumes that were executed in style (some by musicians themselves).

Check out our favorites below.

People were in full-on party mode this weekend, as many clubs chose to have their Halloween festivities on a non-school-night in advance of the holiday. There are still plenty of chances to go out and celebrate tonight -- First Avenue will be hosting their annual Halloween bash, and Solid Gold are playing their first headlining gig in a while at the Varsity Theater.

To get you in the mood for tonight's Halloween parties, we picked out some of the most convincing musical costumes at last weekend's Too Much Love, from Bowie to Sid and Nancy to Janelle Monae.

As part of our ongoing coverage of music at the Minnesota State Fair, we sent photographer Erik Hess to catch salsa kingpin Marc Anthony in the Grandstand last night -- and he returned with some incredible images.

Click here for Erik's full slideshow
, and see below for links to our other State Fair music coverage so far.

There are still quite a few great concerts at the Fair this weekend, between tonight's and tomorrow night's Dr. John shows on the free Leinie's Lodge Bandshell stage and tomorrow night's Grandstand show with Weezer (read more about those gigs in our Critics' Picks section). Stay tuned to Gimme Noise for more on this year's fair events.

It's been another big month for concert photography on the Gimme Noise blog and in City Pages -- so big, in fact, that one of our photographer's photos of the Flaming Lips ended up on the cover of the paper last week (well done, Erik Hess!). Top 10 concert photos of the summer so far

Categories: Slideshow
It's been a rainy start to our summer so far, but that hasn't stopped Twin Cities fans from busting out their ponchos and going outdoors to take in live music. Between Rock the Garden, Soundset, the Warped Tour, and shows at the Minnesota Zoo's amphitheater, concertgoers have had plenty of chances to unwind under the setting sun (or drizzling clouds) this season. What follows are some of our staff's favorite shots, taken both outside and in the clubs, from this summer's first concerts.

As this year's Sound Unseen festival wrapped up at the Southern Theater with a screening of Who is Harry Nilsson (And Why is Everybody Talkin' About Him)?, the festival organizers pulled out all the stops to make it a special night. Harry's daughter Annie was in attendance, and preceding the movie was a short set by the Jayhawks' Gary Louris accompanied by the Suburbs' Chan Poling for some Harry Nilsson covers and Louris originals.

Steve Cohen compiled a photo essay from this unique evening, and compiled a set list of the pair's performance below.

The Minnesota State Fair concert season ended with a bang this year. The 2010 Grandstand hosted many of rock's greatest from Rush to Weird Al Yankovic to KISS. Monday night's fair season finale with the Dukes of September was was a night to remember. Donald Fagen (Steely Dan), Michael McDonald (The Doobie Brothers) and Boz Scaggs led this rock, soul, and blues supergroup. With rain falling steadily even as the crowd entered the Grandstand, it seemed unclear whether there would be a show at all. Most of the concertgoers sought shelter in bathroom hallways, wet and cold, but hopeful. Finally the rain subsided after a 40 minute delay and the show was back on.

Lady Gaga's first of two Xcel Center shows is only 20 days away (not like we're keeping track or anything), and if you're like us, you're dying to know what kind of surprises the pop phenom has in store for her little monsters. By all reports Gaga was in top form during her set at Lollapalooza this past weekend, and our art director Nick Vlcek made the trek down to Chicago to snap some shots of her performance and give us a sneak peak at her stage show before she comes to the Twin Cities on August 30 and 31.
